Introduction
This one-day instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills to develop solutions using the Visual Studio® tools for Office product. This learning product assumes that the .NET developer has an awareness of the Office application object models.

Audience
This course is intended for existing Visual Studio .NET application developers with Office development experience. A secondary audience consists of existing .NET solution developers.

At Course Completion
After completing this course, students will be able to:

Use Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System.
Develop Visual Studio Tools for Office solutions for Word 2003.
Develop Visual Studio Tools for Office solutions for Excel 2003.
Secure, deploy, and update Visual Studio Tools for Office solutions.

Prerequisites
Before attending this course, students must have:

Experience of creating solutions with Visual Studio .NET.
Experience with the .NET Framework 1.0 or 1.1.
Experience using either Visual Basic® .NET or Visual C#® .NET.
Experience using Office products such as Word or Excel.
Some awareness of the Office object models.

Microsoft Certified Professional Exams
No Microsoft Certified Professional exams are associated with this course currently.

Course Outline
Module 1: Using Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System
In this module, students will learn about using Visual Studio Tools for Microsoft Office System. They will learn how the architecture of the tools allows them to use the .NET Framework functionality and security in solutions that use Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word as a user interface.

In this module, students will learn about the structure of a default Word project and how they can use objects from the Word object model and the .NET Framework class libraries to create useful Word solutions.

In this module, students will learn about the structure of a default Excel project and how they can use objects from the Excel object model and the .NET Framework class libraries to create useful Excel solutions.
