Deploying and Managing Microsoft Commerce Server 2000

Course 2185: Two days; Instructor-led

Introduction

The goal of this course is to teach IT professionals how to install, configure, deploy, and manage a Microsoft® Commerce Server 2000 site.


Audience

This course is intended for IT professionals who are responsible for the architecture, installation, deployment, and administration of Commerce Server 2000 in an enterprise organization.

At Course Completion

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Explain the role of Commerce Server 2000 in an enterprise environment.
  • Install Commerce Server 2000 and use Commerce Server Site Packager to package and unpack a Commerce Server 2000 site.
  • Design and configure a network infrastructure for Commerce Server 2000.
  • Design and configure a security infrastructure that supports a Commerce Server 2000 deployment.
  • Manage product data in Commerce Server 2000 by using Commerce Server Business Desk.
  • Administer a Commerce Server 2000 site by using the tools included with Commerce Server 2000.
  • Manage and target user data in Commerce Server 2000.

Prerequisites

Before attending this course, students must have:

  • Successfully completed course 1560, Upgrading Support Skills from Microsoft Windows NT. 4.0 to Microsoft Windows 2000, or course 2154, Implementing and Administering Microsoft Windows 2000 Directory Services , or an equivalent set of Microsoft Windows® 2000 courses. It is also highly recommended that students possess the ability to:
  • Install Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and create a database.
  • Install Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 2000 Advanced Server.

The course materials, lectures, and lab exercises are in English. To benefit fully from the instruction, students need an understanding of the English language and completion of the prerequisites.


Microsoft Certified Professional Exams

This course will help the student prepare an upcoming Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) exam on Commerce Server 2000.

  • Managing resources by using Commerce Server Manager

At the end of this module, you will be able to use tools in Commerce Server 2000 to perform administrative tasks in Commerce Server 2000.

Module 7: Managing and Targeting Users

The following topics are covered in this module:

  • Managing user profiles
  • Enabling business analysis reports
  • Creating and managing advertising campaigns
  • Creating and scheduling a direct mail campaign

At the end of this module, you will be able to manage user profiles for customers who access your Commerce Server 2000 site. You will also be able to use Business Desk to create advertising campaigns that target selected users and groups of users.
