This two-day instructor-led workshop provides students with the knowledge and skills to understand 200-level baseline information on Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007. The workshop focuses on understanding scenarios of Office Communications Server 2007 (OCS 2007), Office Communicator, and integration with Exchange 2007. Course OutlineModule 0: Welcome and Overview This module explains workshop overview detailing logistics of workshop. The second half of the presentation details overview of OCS 2007. Lessons
Module 0 defines the OCS Ignite course layout. This overview module also details Office Communications Server 2007 capability and supported scenarios. Module 1: Architecture Module 1 details the system architecture that is used by OCS 2007. This module details OCS fundamentals, server roles, and component dependencies. This module also details planning and deployment scenarios. Lessons
Lab 1: Installing and Configuring Office Communications Server 2007
Lab 1 guides the attendee through preparing Active Directory and DNS for an OCS installation. Following these steps, OCS 2007 is installed and validated. Module 2: IM and Rich Presence Module 2 describes the rich presence advancement that Office Communications Server is delivering. Additionally this module describes Office Communicator clients, and deployment scenarios. Lessons
Lab 2: Enabling Users and Using Office Communicator 2007
Lab 2 illustrates the new rich-presence capability, and installation of Office Communicator. This lab also illustrates enabling users for IM and testing the clients. Module 3: Conferencing Module 3 illustrates the new on-premise conferencing capability within OCS 2007 and the differences between LiveMeeting Service and on-premise capability. This module also differentiates conferencing clients and requirements. Lessons
Lab 3: Configuring and Using Conferencing in Office Communications Server 2007
Lab 3 guides the attendee through installation of the LiveMeeting console, and connecting to the on-premise conferencing solution. Module 4: Management and Troubleshooting Module 4 articulates the new management tools and techniques for troubleshooting OCS 2007. This module walks through some tools and techniques for identifying any deployment problems. Lessons
Lab 4: Using the Management and Troubleshooting Tools in Office Communications Server 2007
Lab 4 walks the attendee through troubleshooting tools included with OCS. This lab also includes a look at some of the resource kit utilities to help troubleshooting OCS 2007. Module 5: Voice Architecture Module 5 describes planning for adding voice capability to your OCS 2007 implementation. This module assists in understanding the dial-plan, and connecting to the telephony infrastructure. Lessons
Lab 5: Building Voice Capabilities into Your OCS Deployment
Lab 5 guides the attendee through installing a Mediation Server and SIP-PSTN Gateway. This lab also details the certificate installation process for the Mediation Server. Module 6: Voice Capabilities Module 6 explains routing concepts, normalization rules, and call flows within OCS 2007 and build-out of a dial-plan within your environment. Lessons
Lab 6: Configuring Users for Voice and Using Voice Features of Office Communications Server 2007
Lab 6 guides the attendee through configuring end-users to place/receive voice calls and interaction with the dial-plan. Module 7: Unified Messaging Module 7 explains the interaction of OCS 2007 and Exchange 2007 Unified Messaging. This module details the environment, dial-plan integration, and steps required to add OCS 2007 to Exchange UM infrastructure. Lessons
Lab 7: Configuring and Using Exchange Server 2007 Unified Messaging
Lab 7 instructs the attendee on integrating OCS 2007 with an Exchange 2007 UM environment. UM is configured, and then OCS is configured to integrate with the Exchange UM environment. Module 8: Compliance Module 8 details the features that OCS 2007 provides to help deliver compliance scenarios. This module also details tools and techniques for reporting information. Lessons
