Warehouse Management in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009

Course 50189 : 2 days; Instructor-Led

Introduction

This two-day instructor-led course introduces the Warehouse management module. You become familiar with the components of the module, as well as the different ways that the module allows a company to optimize and streamline item flow through the warehouse. Also, you gain an understanding of how the module integrates with other modules within Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009.

 

Audience
This course is intended for professionals involved with implementing Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 in the production warehouse areas. This audience typically includes application consultants who are tasked with assessing customers’ business needs and advising them on the use, configuration, and customization of the application. Additionally, consultants who are responsible for training or supporting the customer will benefit from the course.

 

At Course Completion
After completing this course, students will be able to:
  • Set up Warehouse management including inventory dimensions, inventory model groups, store areas, zones, inventory aisles, locations and warehouse items.
  • Receive and store items.
  • Perform the item picking and shipping process.
  • Use quarantine management within warehouse management system.
  • Access inquiries and reports to obtain information needed.
  • Implement the RFID functionality in Warehouse management.

Prerequisites
Before attending this course, students must have:
  • Knowledge equivalent to the Introduction to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 course.
  • Knowledge equivalent to the Trade and Logistics in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 series.
  • Knowledge equivalent to the Production in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 series.
 

Course Outline

Module 1: Introduction
This module explains the key concepts of Warehouse management using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009. In this module, the Warehouse management key terms are defined. Also, the key benefits of the Microsoft Dynamics AX Warehouse management system will be discussed and the structure and integration of Microsoft Dynamics AX Warehouse management with other modules in Microsoft Dynamics AX. In this module, the difference between advanced Warehouse management and standard Warehouse management will be identified.Lessons

Module 2: Setting up Warehouse Management
In this module, the setup process of Microsoft Dynamics AX Warehouse Management is presented. This module follows the setup flow. All steps of the basic setup are covered in detailed description. Set up of inventory dimensions and inventory model groups, sites, warehouse, aisles, locations, warehouse items, store areas and zones, and the set up of pallets, pallet types and groups, and forklifts will be described.Lessons

Module 3: Item Arrival and Registration
This module discusses, in detail, the processes of items’ receipt, arrival, and registration. This module also covers the procedures for item receipt using the Arrival overview form and Arrival journal.Lessons

Module 4: Item picking and shipping
This module reviews the picking and shipping procedures in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009. In this module, you will learn how to create picking lists, output orders, and picking routes, and how to set up consolidated picking, picking registration, shipment reservations combination, sequences and templates. Also, the procedures of picked items delivery, transport refilling and shipment staging and loading setup will be introduced.Lessons

Module 5: RFID in Warehouse Management
This module provides a high level overview of RFID functionality as it relates to the Warehouse management in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009. It explains how to receive goods using RFID technology. This module also describes the process for picking, packing and shipping RFID tagged and non-tagged items.Lessons

It shows how to set up an item using both quarantine management and warehouse management. Also, it provides information about how to handle quarantine items in Warehouse management. The module covers in detail how to enter items into quarantine, both manually and automatically. The process for quarantined item receipt is discussed and explained, as well as quarantine orders.Lessons

Module 7: Inquiries and Reports
This module discusses the features to inquire and report on the data created through the previous chapters. How to view inquiries is explained, along with how to locate the specific inquiries required. Also, it is explained how Warehouse management reports allow you to have a hard copy of various aspects of Warehouse management.Lessons
