Chapter 1: Project Setup
Here we will discuss the initial setup of the Project module in Microsoft Dynamics® AX. The correct Project setup is necessary for use of this module.
This chapter discusses each setup step required to run basic projects.
Chapter 2: Project Setup Options
Here we discuss various setup options in Project Accounting. These options are not required to run simple projects. However, they can add more depth to how
the functionality is used. We describe each of these additional setup options and
how to use them to increase the control and depth of the Project module.
Chapter 3: Registering and Adjusting Project Transactions
Here we introduce how transactions are processed in the Microsoft Dynamics® AX Project module. We show the process for entering four of the five types of
transactions through the different methods that are available through the Project
module.
Chapter 4: Invoicing Projects
Here we describe the methods that are used for invoicing projects and the processes involved. There are two different ways to invoice based on the type of
project. While time and material projects use the invoice proposal form to create invoices based on the transactions posted to the project, fixed price projects use
predefined payment amounts that can be based on predefined milestones in the
project. Both methods of invoicing are discussed.
Chapter 5: Budgets, Forecasts, Quotations, and Estimates
Here we discuss the Project module concepts which include:
• Budgeting
• Forecasting
• Quotations
• Estimates
These concepts are all closely linked in the Project module. We also discuss in detail the forecasting functionality which can be used in all types of projects
Chapter 6: Project Inquiries and Reports
Here we describe the available inquires and reports in the Microsoft Dynamics® AX Project module. The inquiries, reports, and statistics forms in the Project
module make it easy to access information that is necessary to run projects effectively. They are important tools for the project manager to obtain
information quickly and effectively.
Chapter 7: Time Scheduling
This describes the concepts and functionality of the time scheduling routine in the Microsoft Dynamics® AX Project module. This functionality helps manage
the project by scheduling employees and resources for the project. Therefore, the Project Manager has a better idea on how long the project is going to take.
Chapter 8: Internal Cost Project
Here we describe the accounting principles involved with operating simple internal projects in Microsoft Dynamics AX® Project. There are three types of
internal projects. This lesson provides specific examples of using them all.
