About this Course
This two-day instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills to perform an upgrade from Microsoft Business Solutions–Axapta 3.0 to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009. This includes planning and performing data and code upgrades of Microsoft Dynamics AX with customizations, as well as testing the upgraded solution. The training is designed to offer the students best practices to address the typical pain points of an upgrade.
Classroom instruction, along with hands-on labs, VPC images and a student training manual, will assist students in performing a real life upgrade.

This course is intended for Microsoft Dynamics AX software developers and administrators with medium to advanced Microsoft Dynamics AX experience. They may also have some upgrade experience.

Module 1: Introduction
This module focuses on the basic concept of the upgrade from Microsoft Business Solutions–Axapta 3.0 to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009. It introduces the main terms related to upgrading. It also describes the upgrade workflow and system requirements that must be met before upgrading.
In addition, this module discusses upgrade tools and upgrade testing.

In addition, the module explains how to set up environments for the upgrade. The module ends with the pain points of the upgrade planning.

In addition, the module discusses the code upgrade testing.

The module also covers the pain points and troubles of the data upgrade and explains how to avoid them.

The module also describes how to improve performance of the upgraded solution. The main goal of this module is to explain how to prepare the upgraded solution for going live.
